Mission
The mission of the Institute is to provide post-graduate leadership development opportunities through national and international educational programs. The Williamson Institute also conducts sponsored research inquiry and undertakes outreach programs to improve the management, financing, and delivery of health services with the ultimate goal of making health care more affordable, innovative, and responsive to community needs in a responsible manner.
The Williamson Institute serves as a catalyst for research innovation and post-graduate continuing education to VCU alumni/ae and friends by offering data collection services, sponsored research projects in healthcare, management training events, executive fellowship and international educational programs.
The Institute strongly advocates the use of telecommunications to expand educational opportunities for the professional communities it serves – and in recent years has become a leader of innovation in the application of these new technologies. It uses Blackboard® on-line educational technology for conducting off-campus sessions combined with scheduled on-campus sessions and personal contact with faculty members to enhance the learning and development processes.
