Elizabeth Taliaferro (MHA '05)
Controller, HCA Richmond Division
By Priyanka Dhingra (MHA '10)
Ms. Elizabeth Taliaferro completed her B.S in business administration and accounting from the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia. The 1999 graduate went on to obtain her license as a certified public accountant. This eventually landed her a position with Ernst and Young, LLP as a senior auditor. One of Ms. Taliaferro’s many clients at Ernst and Young included Riverside Health System. Her relationship with Riverside introduced her to the challenging yet rewarding work of a healthcare professional. Consequently, she came to MCV to launch her career as a healthcare administrator.
Upon completing her MHA in 2005, she joined Chippenham-Johnston Willis Medical Center, where she worked as an associate controller. Then in January 2006, Ms. Taliaferro had the opportunity to serve as the interim Chief Financial Officer at Brunswick Community Hospital in North Carolina. As the interim CFO, she had full responsibility for the accounting, health information management, patient account services and IT&S functions. Soon afterwards, she returned to CJW Medical Center as a Controller. In March 2007, Ms. Taliaferro accepted a position with the HCA Richmond Division as a Controller. She has been with HCA Richmond Division ever since.
Apart from being a leader at work, Ms. Taliaferro is a leader in her community. She serves on the Greater Richmond Board of Children’s Health Involving Parents (CHIP). In her free time, Ms. Taliaferro enjoys running, reading and spending time with family and friends.
