Jason Oliver Houser
Vice President of Legal Affairs
Riverside Health System

Newport News, Virginia

MHA/ JD 2002

Residency:  Inova Health System
Fairfax, VA

Mr. Houser first became interested in pursuing a career in health law after serving as an administrative intern for Riverside Health System prior to beginning graduate school.  While at VCU, Mr. Houser enrolled in the MHA/JD Dual Degree Program with the University of Richmond School of Law.

After graduation, Mr. Houser worked for Venable LLP, out of Baltimore, MD, working with various healthcare organizations and professionals on issues such as the HIPAA Privacy Rule, Medicare and Medicaid and Certificate of Need.  Mr. Houser returned to Riverside Health System in 2005 as Vice President of Legal Affairs.  He also serves on the Board of Directors for both the Christopher Newport University Alumni Association and the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association Political Action Committee.

Mr. Houser believes healthcare is one of the most complex areas to practice law due to intricacies and dynamic regulatory environment.  He finds this makes the field intellectually challenging and keeps him continually excited about his career.
